communication is key

Whenever we are asked what is the key to a successful design project many people are surprised by our answer – communication. A free flowing exchange between a client and their designer will insure that the client’s needs are taken into account, their style is expressed and the budget is adhered to. Many clients come into a project with some great ideas and it is the designer’s job to apply their own expertise and experience to further cultivate these ideas. Years of education and experience allow a designer to execute on some of the client’s original dreams for a project while at the same time developing the ideas into something more than they could imagine! This is where communication comes in.

When a client and designer easily exchange information the project is not only beautiful but it is highly functional as well. Don’t forget that this communication includes talk about budget. Some clients feel uncomfortable discussing money but they shouldn’t! Establishing a budget saves time and false starts by allowing the designer to select certain fabric and furnishings companies whose products will fit into your budget range.
